Amalfi Day Charters
The Emerald Grotto. The Furore fjord. A coastline that only makes sense from the sea.
Our Ahoy Approved Guide
Amalfi sits at the midpoint of the coast, which makes it one of the best departure points on the water. East toward Salerno the cliffs grow taller. West toward Positano the coastline softens into terraced lemon groves and fishing villages that see a fraction of the tourist traffic. Both directions reward a slow morning.

Highlights
The spots worth reaching that only get to by sea.
Landmark
The Emerald Grotto
A sea cave four kilometres west of Amalfi, accessible only by boat. Light filters through the submerged entrance and turns the interior a deep green. Entry by your own boat — more relaxed than Capri's Blue Grotto. Best in the morning.
Anchorage
The Furore Fjord
A narrow inlet carved into the cliffs between Amalfi and Positano. From a boat you sail directly into it: sheer rock on both sides, a small fishing village at the far end, and silence.
Landmark
Atrani
The smallest municipality in Italy, sitting immediately east of Amalfi. A tight cluster of white buildings with a small beach and a church facing straight out to sea. A five-minute detour worth making.
Landmark
Ravello from the water
The gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are just visible at the cliff edge, and the scale of the drop from town to waterline becomes clear in a way it never does from above.
Anchorage
Conca dei Marini
A small village a few kilometres west of Amalfi, set back from a tiny harbour that most passing boats miss. The Emerald Grotto sits at its base. Swim in the harbour and continue west.

Swimming
Praiano Coast
The stretch of coastline between Positano and Praiano from a boat running parallel to the cliffs: terracotta rooftops stacked against vertical rock, lemon groves in gaps between houses, roads cut improbably into cliff faces.
Suggested Itineraries
Emerald Grotto and Furore Half Day
Emerald Grotto before the day-trip boats arrive, then into the Furore fjord for a slow pass and a swim at its mouth. Return east with a coffee stop in Atrani.
Amalfi to Nerano Full Day
West via Furore fjord and Praiano to Nerano and Marina del Cantone. Lunch at Lo Scoglio or Taverna del Capitano, both reachable from the water. Return east in the afternoon.
Amalfi to Positano Sunset
Depart late afternoon, west toward Positano as the light drops. The cliffs along this stretch catch the last hour of sun. Aperitivo onboard, back in Amalfi as the harbour lights come on.
Sunset Cruise
Evening cruise along the coastline as the light drops, depart late afternoon, back in port by dusk.
