Dining

One of the best ways to experience the Amalfi Coast is from the water. Long lunches by boat are basically part of the culture here. Anchoring just offshore, arriving by tender, spending hours over seafood and rosé, then diving straight back into the sea afterwards.

The best Amalfi Coast boat day itineraries always include a waterfront lunch stop and luckily, some of the region's most iconic restaurants are only accessible, or best experienced, by boat.

Whether you're chartering for the day from Capri, Positano, Sorrento or Amalfi, these are the best lunch restaurants to include in your itinerary.

Best Waterside Restaurants in Capri

Il Riccio

Il Riccio is probably one of the most famous waterfront restaurants in Capri and for good reason. Located right by the Blue Grotto, this Michelin starred beach club and restaurant combines luxury with classic southern Italian seafood in a way Capri does very well.

The setup is ideal for a boat day because you can anchor nearby, head in for lunch and easily spend a few hours swimming in between courses. Expect polished service, fresh seafood, incredible desserts and one of the most iconic settings on the island.

If you're visiting Capri during peak European summer, reservations are essential well in advance.

La Fontelina

La Fontelina is a Capri institution. Sitting directly on the rocks beneath the Faraglioni, it's one of the most iconic lunch spots on the Amalfi Coast and perfectly suited for arriving by boat.

The atmosphere is relaxed but still very "Capri" with striped umbrellas, seafood pasta, chilled wine and long afternoons in the sun. Many guests combine lunch here with beach chairs before or after, making it one of the easiest all day stops to build into a Capri yacht itinerary.

The seafood spaghetti and grilled fish are always reliable choices.

Best Waterside Restaurants in Nerano

Lo Scoglio

Lo Scoglio is legendary in Nerano and one of the best waterfront restaurants on the Amalfi Coast for a long, relaxed lunch by sea.

Family run and sitting directly on the water, it's famous for ultra fresh seafood, vegetables grown on the family farm above the restaurant and some of the region's best pasta dishes. The setting feels authentic and unpretentious despite attracting celebrities, yacht guests and regular visitors from all over the world.

It's also one of the easiest and most enjoyable lunch stops to include when cruising between Capri and Positano.

Conca del Sogno

Conca del Sogno is made for a fun boat day. Located in a small bay near Nerano, it's one of the most popular yacht lunch stops on the coast thanks to its lively atmosphere, waterfront swimming access and long table style lunches.

Guests usually arrive by tender directly from their yacht before settling in for several hours of seafood, pasta and rosé. The spaghetti nerano is a must order here, along with the salted sea bass and the famous sgroppinos prepared tableside.

One of the best parts about Conca del Sogno is how seamlessly the lunch blends into the rest of the boat day. Swimming before lunch, after lunch or even during lunch is completely normal here.

Best Waterside Restaurants in Positano

Da Adolfo

Da Adolfo is one of Positano's most iconic lunch spots and exactly the kind of restaurant people picture when they imagine an Amalfi Coast boat day.

Accessible mainly by boat, the restaurant sits directly on a small private beach just outside Positano. The atmosphere is casual, fun and unmistakably Italian, with grilled mozzarella on lemon leaves, fresh seafood and cold wine being staples of the menu.

The famous little red fish sign hanging above the beach has become iconic over the years and the whole experience feels refreshingly unfussy compared to some of the more polished luxury spots nearby.

Carlino at Il San Pietro

Carlino at Il San Pietro offers one of the most beautiful waterfront lunch settings on the Amalfi Coast. Located down by the sea beneath the iconic Il San Pietro hotel, the restaurant sits directly beside the water with private swimming platforms and beach chairs surrounding it.

It's the perfect addition to a luxury boat itinerary because guests can arrive by tender, enjoy a relaxed seafood lunch and spend the afternoon swimming and sunbathing afterwards.

The setting feels exclusive without being overly formal and the combination of exceptional food, direct sea access and dramatic Positano cliffs makes it one of the standout lunch experiences on the coast.

Planning the Perfect Amalfi Coast Boat Day

One of the biggest advantages of chartering a boat on the Amalfi Coast is being able to access restaurants that are difficult, and sometimes impossible, to properly experience by land.

Most itineraries will combine swimming stops, beach clubs and a long waterfront lunch somewhere between Capri, Nerano and Positano depending on your departure point and style of day.

For peak summer, restaurants should always be booked in advance, especially for larger groups or beach chair requests.

At Ahoy Days, our team helps guests plan tailored Amalfi Coast boat itineraries including yacht charters, restaurant reservations, beach clubs and full day experiences across Capri, Positano, Nerano and the wider coastline.
