Bagni Tiberio, Capri

While much of Capri can feel polished and glamorous during peak summer, Bagni Tiberio keeps a more traditional island atmosphere.

Located near Marina Grande on a quieter part of the island, this waterfront restaurant and beach club has been a local favourite for years thanks to its relaxed setting, fresh seafood and classic Caprese dishes. Maria Grazia, Nerano

Maria Grazia is one of those rare restaurants that still feels deeply connected to the history of the Amalfi Coast.

Located in the tiny fishing village of Nerano, it's famous for creating Spaghetti alla Nerano back in 1952, a dish that would eventually become one of the region's most iconic recipes. The story goes that Prince Pupetto visited the restaurant with a noble friend and together with Rosa in the kitchen, they created the now famous pasta using fried zucchini, basil, local cheese and spaghetti.

Today, people travel from all over the world to try the original version of the dish but despite its reputation, Maria Grazia still feels refreshingly local.

It's the kind of restaurant where long family lunches stretch for hours, seafood arrives straight from the water and nobody is rushing you off the table.

La Tagliata, Positano Hills

La Tagliata feels completely different to the polished beach clubs and waterfront restaurants along the coast and that's exactly the appeal.

Located high in the hills above Positano, this family run farm to table restaurant has become famous for its huge feasts, incredible views and relaxed atmosphere. Many people arrive after completing the Walk of the Gods hike, hungry and ready to eat absolutely everything placed in front of them.

And there is a lot of food.

There's no traditional menu here. Instead, plates just continue arriving at the table, homemade pasta, grilled meats, local vegetables, cheeses and desserts, all made using ingredients grown directly on the family farm.

The setting overlooking the Amalfi Coast is spectacular but what really makes La Tagliata special is how genuine it still feels. Loud tables, homemade wine, generous portions and that classic southern Italian hospitality where nobody leaves hungry.
