Itineraries
There's no better way to experience the Amalfi Coast than by boat. The coastline was made for it. Hidden coves, beach clubs only accessible by sea, swimming stops beneath the cliffs and long lunches that turn into all afternoon affairs.
A well planned charter day is never about rushing between destinations. The best ones feel effortless. A few perfect swim stops, a long lunch somewhere on the water and enough flexibility to follow the mood of the day.
This is the ideal Amalfi Coast day charter itinerary.
Best Departure Time
11am is usually the sweet spot.
Early enough to enjoy calm water and several swim stops before lunch, but late enough that nobody feels rushed getting ready in the morning. It also sets the timing up perfectly for a long lunch and relaxed sunset cruise home.
Most charters depart from Positano, Capri, Amalfi or Sorrento depending on where guests are staying.
First Swim Stop: Li Galli Islands
The Li Galli Islands are one of the best first swim stops on the Amalfi Coast and a favourite with captains.
Located between Positano and Capri, the water here is crystal clear and perfect for an early swim straight off the boat. The area feels very private and calm compared to some of the busier parts of the coastline later in the day.
Most guests spend around 30 to 45 minutes here swimming, snorkelling and settling into the day.
Cruising Towards Capri
From Li Galli, continue cruising towards Capri.
Approaching Capri by boat is one of the highlights of the entire day. The cliffs, Faraglioni Rocks and caves around the island are spectacular from the water and far better experienced by sea than on land.
Depending on conditions and timing, captains will usually include stops around the Faraglioni Rocks, Marina Piccola, the Blue Grotto, and hidden coves around the western side of the island.
Lunch Recommendations
Conca del Sogno - Perfect for lively group lunches and long afternoons. Best for guests wanting a fun atmosphere, waterfront swimming and one of the Amalfi Coast's most iconic boat day restaurants.
Lo Scoglio - Ideal for a more authentic and relaxed lunch with exceptional seafood and a classic Nerano atmosphere.
La Fontelina - One of Capri's most iconic beach clubs. Perfect for combining lunch with beach chairs and swimming beneath the Faraglioni.
Carlino at Il San Pietro - Excellent for couples or guests wanting a more polished luxury lunch experience directly by the water.
Captain Recommendations
Good captains make a huge difference on the Amalfi Coast. The best ones know which swim spots are calmest based on wind conditions, the quietest times to approach Capri, where to anchor for lunch, and which coves are worth stopping at depending on the season.
Always leave some flexibility in the itinerary because weather and sea conditions often shape the best parts of the day.
Afternoon Swim Stops
After lunch, most charters continue with slower cruising and swimming around Nerano, Marina del Cantone, Capri's southern coastline, and smaller hidden coves between Positano and Amalfi.
This is usually the most relaxed part of the day when the pace slows down and guests settle into the afternoon.
Sunset Return
The best sunset returns are usually from Capri to Positano, Nerano towards Positano, or Amalfi towards Praiano.
The coastline becomes much quieter in the evening and the light across the cliffs is incredible. Most guests end the day with drinks onboard while slowly cruising back along the coast as the sun drops behind the water.
